Sunday School Classes
NEW SBC ADULT SMALL GROUP!
Are you working hard to start or build your career? Have you ever wondered why our current society doesn’t share some of your Christian values? Do you struggle to find individuals to discuss the challenges of building a family or strengthening a marriage? If so, we’d love to have you join us during the Sunday School hour! This to-be-named group will offer fellowship time, light studies, and discussions with individuals who are in a similar season of focusing on careers, marriages, family, and walking with God in an ever-changing world. Sunday School classes are available for children at the same time (Babies/toddlers are welcome to join their parents in the small group). So, bring your morning coffee and join us in the fellowship hall (Look for the signage!) on Sunday, September 8th at 9:00 AM!
We are looking forward to using discussion topics from the book, The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry: How to Stay Emotionally Healthy and Spiritually Alive in the Chaos of the Modern World by Jon Mark Comer as a starting place for our group. There is no need to purchase or read the book to participate in the small group unless you’d like to take a deeper dive into any of the topics we discuss. Hope to see you there!
WE HAVE SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES FOR CHILDREN!
Sunday School is important for children to learn the teachings of Jesus. It helps to impart values to children through Biblical lessons, and it allows children to understand, on their level, the Word of God. Sunday School also gives your child the opportunity to socialize with other children. We offer Sunday School classes for PRESCHOOL to 4th GRADE and 5th GRADE to 9th GRADE. We look forward to helping your child develop a closer relationship with God!
GOODWILL CLASS
The Goodwill Bible Sunday School Class began in 1958 and continues to love and serve the Lord. We are still learning and studying God's Word using the Life Guide series to encourage discussion of Scripture and how it applies to life.
Goodwill is a faithful praying group God has blessed, as we continue in His service.
The class supports various mission projects and church programs and meets needs with our WE CARE fund.
There's room for more folks! Welcome!
INQUIRING BELIEVERS
The Inquiring Believers Sunday School Class was formed in the mid-90s by members at large. In 2013, the Believers Under Construction Class merged into The Inquiring Believers Class and is now a joint effort with all members participating in an in-depth study of Scripture. The class is in search of a deeper understanding of God's inspired word and life application.
The theme of the class is Sola Scriptura (Latin: By Scripture Alone). Sola Scriptura means that Scripture alone is the inspired word of God and the only authoritative true source for the faith and practice of the Christian. As the apostle Paul writes in 2 Timothy 3:16, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness." The focus of the class, always, is Scripture and life application. The class enjoys a history related to the Biblical times being studied, some understanding of the Hebrew and Greek, and verse-by-verse study in depth. The class collectively decides the direction of study. Although the study topic or book of the Bible is the foundation of study, the class is known for frequently going "off-topic" leading the class through an enlightening dive into scriptures that all enjoy. Open discussion is encouraged.
OUTREACH CLASS:
The goal of the Outreach Class is to learn and grow together in Christ, and to share the love of Jesus with others. Over the years, Outreach has been a part of many service projects, such as supporting Camp Allegheny and Christmas gift bags for Arbutus Park Manor. Current projects include the Souper Bowl of Caring, supporting Operation Christmas Child boxes, and a card ministry that sends prayers, along with words of encouragement, to members of our church family and community. Outreach continues in the footsteps of preceding Sunday School classes, by joyfully carrying on the tradition of decorating the church every year for Christmas.
While serving the Lord, there is a lot of fun and fellowship along the way. Times together are a true blessing. If you are seeking to learn more about God, Jesus, and the Bible, Outreach would welcome you Sunday mornings.
